Unlike last time when we had one appetizer and desserts this weekend we opted for a full scale dinner and it wasn’t a mistake. The outdoor sitting in late afternoon (it was an early dinner) was a bliss, the service was good and so were the food and drinks.
I had a delicious Martini to start, it was fairly strong with pronounced apple flavour and delicious apple foam on top – it was called “In the Spirit”. For starters I had the Foie Gras parfait with toasted sour-dough baguette and raisin-rhubarb compote - the portion was, in my opinion, big enough for two (my husband enjoyed the benefits). My husband had the pan-seared Vancouver Island Octopus; both starters were very good. My second course was a Lobster Risotto with large chunks of perfectly cooked Nova Scotia lobster (a whole 1lb lobster was used) summer squash, chanterelles, lemon-thyme and corn which had a wonderful flavour and aroma; the only draw back was the slightly over cooked rice - too soft rather than al-dente. Husband opted for the rabbit saddle wrapped in prosciutto with fingerling potatoes, carrot puree, turnips and a port glaze which he enjoyed.
Dessert was a repetition from last time - a black forest cake – consistently delicious by the way.
Overall a very nice experience, good service and wonderful location for patio fine dining in Whistler.
